Formula for Page Rank
How does Google actually calculate the page rank for a given site? I have read from other sources for the answer but they all seem to only confuse you more. I am looking for a simplified answer

This is the most critical question for any SEO expert. Read Google official blog > http://googleblog.blogspot.com/
Re: Formula for Page Rank
Google will NEVER give the exact method they use to calculate PageRank that would be like giving up keys to the world

Re: Formula for Page Rank
Haha good question, mate. I dont think there is anyone who knows the answer to this question but google. As batmeds said if they reveal it it will become meaningless. From what i know the algorythm is extremely complex. There are couple of things that are for sure - backlinks does a matter, outgoing also count. So watch what sites you are linking to.
Re: Formula for Page Rank
The mystery of the formula to Google Page Rank sort of reminds me of the quest for the Holy Grail. I like to consider the massive numbers of webmasters who would literally kill for the formula! (I guess that's why I am a writer, I have a wild imagination.) Let's pretend for a moment that someone actually DID discover the formula. What would they do with it? Would they sell it online? Would that change the face of internet marketing forever?
Just having some fun. But seriously, I wonder how many people are privy to that information? Does anyone know who created PR? I see now that the next place I am headed is to Google, to research the answer. I LOVE Google for that reason. No matter what they have done, like the Google Smack, for instance, they are still and will probably be for many years to come, the measuring stick for search engine success. Although I have seen a few other search engines, like Yahoo, MSN, and even smaller ones like Dogpile, giving them a run for their money. I like that. I enjoy seeing the smaller guy win every once in a while. It keeps the American Dream of personal success and capitalism alive and well. I don't think I despise anything worse when it comes to big business than a monopoly. They don't work, and people resent them. Remember Ma Bell? Shoot, many of you may not be old enough to remember!(That's sort of depressing.) I DO ramble, don't I? Oh well, everybody's good at something!
