Microsoft wants more students using its software tools and it thinks it has hit on the right business model.

It's going to give away its software.

Starting this week, college students in 10 countries will be able to get Microsoft's Visual Studio and several other programs for free as part of an effort dubbed DreamSpark. Over the next year, Microsoft plans to offer the program worldwide for college and high school students.

Yes this is great news students that want to learn how to build software applications. On the other hand Microsoft is so damn shady in my opinion and they need to do things like this so the public doesn't see them for what they are.

I have not heard about anything like that in my country so far. But they are obviously making moves. This is good for the students but Microsoft that way is trying to be a monopolist. Everybody using their products.
Tasty recipes!
