Host blog myself or wordpress blogspot?

I was thinking to start a new blog for myself and was wondering if there is any advantage to host your own blog or use free hosting like Wordpress and Blogspot to host it?

Well, if you want to do any customization beyond a theme (or even just making changes to your theme) then hosting your own is the way to go.

You are then able to control many of the other aspects, such as plugins, etc...

I highly recommend using your own hosting... and most hosting places have Cpanelwith fantastico where you can install wordpress in just a few clicks.

Yes hosting your own blog is much more better becouse you can use your custom theme (in my opinion the themes from blogspot arent that great). You can find lots of nice themes at wordpress.com

Blogspot is not that bad yall. They are doing good job. There are many plug ins that you wont be able to use but they are stable host and it is all free, except for the domain you might want to buy. I say blogspot.

You just can't customize it well... especially for people wanting to make money online with their blog.... investing a little bit for a domain and for hosting isn't bad at all. If you are serious about it, you could shell out a little bit of money for all of the bigger benefits.

There are many option on blogger. And also some pretty good free templates. You can do a lot of stuff with your blog. Blogger has been improving for the last couple of years. A lot of new features have been added lately to make the life easier on the bloggers. I do not say that is better but is way easier to use and maintain blog on blogger.
