How can I get my website to show sitelinks when someone finds it through Google? The links that show up under the domain name.

The first key is to be number one on Google for a search phrase.... second is to continue to be the authority on that search topic that you are number one for.... third, make sure you have your site in Google webmaster tools and submit regular .xml sitemaps.

Number one position is not necessary. The second place in the SERP still works. I have seen sitelinks and for the second in SERP. I agree submitting sitemaps help a lot. In a nut shell you have to have very powerful site.
