I have a website and product but now I do I get people to my website to buy my product? I don't really know much about marketing online so what's the first thing I can do?

Well there are a lot of things you can do but I will list a few to help you get started.

1. Create a blog on a subdomain or folder of your website and make frequent posts.
2. Write articles and submit to as many directories as you can. I haven't tried the service offered here but I have seen good things posted about it.
3. Submit to free directories using keyword anchor text
4. Usfreeads is good for driving traffic, it's a classified website
5. Posting on cragislist

That should be enough to get you started.

You can also hire a quality blogger (like me) to update you blog and to moderate the useful comments. A blog alway help the site to get good number of index with required keyword.

If your product is a quality product then other surely link them. This will make your site more user friendly.

ziya great list. But there are also other good ways to promote your site. Buy backlinks. Try everything to increase your site popularity. That way you will get more visitors. More visitors equals to cash. Posting free ads other than graiglist also helps a lot. You can buy email list send emails to couple of hundred people you can have some success with this one also. Go from the basics.
