Information Products - Beauty or Beast?

Postby rockfist on Wed Jun 04, 2008 10:46 am

Hi

There is NOTHING new - everything has been thought of before !
Possibly right - but there is still money being left on the table.

With your website, either your own or an affiliate one how much
are you paying to get visitors to it, and once there are you
turning those visitors into customers?

Information Products is the place where there is an awful lot of money
being earned by a truckload of people - and no there is no saturation.

But going back to what I was saying about turning visitors into
customers. That is easy too, but you need a good landing page where
you will GIVE AWAY something of great value to visitors, which will
be of interest to them and help them in their quest for a good online
business.

Info products are a thing of beauty for sure. You can sell them pratically anywhere .your own site ,any auction site will get a buyer. If you have never been to clickbank or just did a search for info products on google,it definatly is NOT saturated!
Plus it does not even have to be about internet marketing, think outside the box there is an info product for everything and everyone.Even your cats behaviors, lol
OK just my 2 cents. :D

ccavarzan you are exactly right,

The real money is made selling information products that are NOT in the make money online niche. The Internet marketing or MMO niche is profitable but everyone totally forgets about the millions of other niches to target. This is the Internet and people will buy ANYTHING if they think it will help them achieve a goal what ever it may be.

I agree that people will buy anything, especially if they think they are getting a deal. What has really began to bother me, though. is the sneaky tactics so many internet marketers use to reel in newbies who don't know any better. The average American is really not that smart when it comes to the internet. I am not downgrading any class of people. I just know from talking to so many friends and family members about what I do for a living and their eyes turning glassy because they don't have a clue what I am talking about that I can say that they aren't internet savvy with confidence.

It makes me angry that a new person decides that they want to try having their own online business and ends up getting shafted by some snake oil salesman who promises to make their dreams come true for only $39.95! There should be some sort of laws in place to protect the consumer online. I think this will eventually happen. Or at least I hope it does.

I know, that would be infringing on the whole concept of free enterprise online, but heck, something has got to give.

And another thing that burns my hide is the "Good Ole' Boy's Club" of guru internet marketers and A list bloggers who scratch each other's backs to keep them at the top of the heap. It makes things much harder for the little guy. Reading the A list blogs and learning how much they make, and marketing blogs too, is disconcerting and sets unrealistic limits for someone who just wants to be able to work from home and pay the bills.

I wonder if there are other small potatoes like me who feel this way. I bet we could form a club. Do I sound bitter and jealous? I hope not, I don't really feel jealous, just overwhelmed sometimes by the sheer magnitude of what it takes to be a successful affiliate online.

Information products are definitely a beauty, steer clear of subjects related to the Internet and they are more beautiful still.

Do a keyword search on “how to get rid of” and you will find a lot of subjects that people turn to the Internet to try and find answers to. For example how to get rid of acne, how to get rid of fat, how to get rid of ants! When people type these queries into Google they are looking for a solution now! For some reason people seem to value a book that they have bought more highly than a lot of the free information available.

There are a lot of successful products that help people solve these problems. For example “how to get rid of acne in three days”, “fat burning for idiots” and a whole crop of new e-books have just started to appear on one of the latest fads to hit -- how to run your car on water.

When people turn to the Internet for a solution to their problems, or for information to help them do something new, for example how to plan a herb garden or learn a new language, then they are often motivated and impulse buyers. So if you are ready with an information product they will often, on impulse, get out their credit card and by right away!

Of course the difficulty with information products isn’t usually selling them, it's getting people to your sales page. That is where search engine optimisation comes in and various marketing strategies are needed. You have to find ways of directing people who are looking for your products to finding your products.
