Keyword Meta Tag Question

How many keywords or keyphrases should I actually put in the keyword meta tag area?

Some say four words or phrases, some told me 160 characters and a quick check I can even find sites with ten or so keywords listed top ten in google search results. Anyone can give me a figure to work around with

It depends which meta tags you are talking about.

Title Tag: I put my main 2 keywords or phrases in there but do NOT repeat the same word twice. For instance I might have..

Description: I would include my title keyword phrases in it and a few other keywords all while making sure it's readable for humans.

Keywords: I using put around ten keywords or phrases and do NOT repeat the same keyword twice.

That's what works well for me.
