Lots of low PR backlinks or very few high quality backlins?

What do you think is more important? Lots of low PR backlinks or a very few high quality backlinks.

I am not really sure which has more importance but a lot of low PR links are definitely easier to gather.

I have tried both methods and to be honest I had better results with a bunch of low quality links vs. a few strong ones. I don't think the PR of the page really makes a difference it's how much weight Google gives a certain page. But now that I think about it Google must like a website if they give it high PR so hmmm
